Minimum Trading Prices of Singapore Stocks

The Singapore Stocks Exchange (SGX) will be introducing a minimum trading price of twenty cents for all stocks trading on the main board. This means to say that for a stock currently trading at below twenty cents in share prices, the company behind the stock can explore consolidating its shares (i.e. reducing its total number of shares in the market) so as to give each of its share a higher trading price. For example, if a company has currently 10,000 shares currently trading at $0.01 on the main board of SGX, the company can do a share consolidation to make its stock price become $1 with the total number of shares on the main board reducing to 100 after consolidation. A company with shares trading below twenty cents on the mainboard can also look at transferring to the Catalist where there is no requirement of a minimum trading price.

What investors should do to increase stocks profits?

Maybe it’s due to the fact that retail investors are overwhelmed with the statistics of large shareholdings by key investors that sometimes, I think and this is my thinking only, that investors may think that they are just a small shareholder of a listed company, especially if they own just a few thousands shares or with the new current lot size, just 100 shares of a listed company’s shares.

Why this Singapore stock may rally next?

In yesterday’s Singapore Budget Speech, DPM cum Finance Minister Mr Tharman highlighted some of the growth clusters which Singapore may become a leader in. One of these is none other than the cluster of Smart Urban solutions. In my yesterday post on what Singapore Stocks Singapore investors can invest in from Singapore Budget 2015 (you can read the post from the link at the bottom of this post), I have shared with readers just one of such stock which is Boustead Singapore which specializes in geospatial technology. In this post, I am going to highlight one current leader stock in Smart Urban solutions which investors may want to consider and this stock is one in which offers more diverse smart urban solutions.

Today, it was announced that Magnus Bocker, the current CEO of Singapore Stocks Exchange SGX will not be seeking another term as the CEO of SGX. SGX is both a listed company itself on SGX as well as the Singapore stocks market regulator hence with the announcement, many in the investing community may now want to sum up the contributions of Magnus Bocker during his tenure in SGX as the CEO of a listed company as well as his efforts in regulating the Singapore stocks market.

Finance Minister cum DPM Tharman has delivered his Singapore Budget 2015 speech and Singaporeans have heard of the different incentives and measures which will be introduced. As always, the Budget cannot be such that it will please every Singaporean hence I think that some Singaporeans will benefit more than others from Singapore Budget 2015 and one happy thing is that most Singaporeans will benefit from Singapore Budget 2015 from what I have read.

Chinese New Year holidays: a good “break” from work

Today is the fourth day of the Chinese New Year. How time flies, the long Chinese New Year holidays would now have been treasured by many, at least for myself. During this holidays, I indulged in a good relaxation, watching movies after movies on TV channels, eating many great goodies, visiting friends and relatives and sleeping late. I have been enjoying myself and I think the holidays are a good “break” from work.

Which stocks to invest in for Wood Goat Year 2015?

Whenever it comes to every Chinese New Year, like every New Year, there will be forecasts and predictions aplenty on which stocks will perform well for the upcoming year. While it is the financial analysts who will churn out financial analysis reports for the New Year, it is the Feng Shui Masters who will suggest which stocks are recommended for the Chinese New Year. Let us now look at the stocks recommended for investments for Wood Goat Year 2015.

I have been looking at quite a number of online articles on Fengshui for Wood Goat Year 2015 and have read quite a number of different views from different Fengshui Masters. However I have found one which comes from a reputable Fengshui practitioner based in Singapore and based on this, I will share with you the recommended stocks as follows:

Based on the Fengshui article , excellent industries for investments for Wood Goat Year 2015 are the Metal Industries. Metal Industries are those related to banking, machineries and equipment, law firms, fortune telling, gold smith shops, steel, vehicles, etc. On the Singapore stocks markets, I think construction companies are the steel companies while for a listed company on the Singapore Stocks Markets which is related to “law firms”, Zico may fill the bill.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2015!

Dear readers, I wish All of You a Happy Chinese New Year 2015! Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year and All of us have a super long public holidays weekends for all of us to enjoy and recharge ourselves: visiting families, relatives and friends; exchanging greetings, partaking in the many Chinese New Year goodies and watching good TV movies from selected TV channels. UNITED ENGINEERS STOCK: what should investors do now?

Yesterday, United Engineers stock retreated 15.5% to close the trading session at $2.68. This is not unexpected of by the investing community as OCBC and Great Eastern had failed to reach an agreement with Thailand Billionaire Charoen over the sale of their stake in United Engineers to the Thai tycoon. The move of United Engineers came after the SGX’s “trade with caution” note on the counter. It was reported that United Engineers stock had risen by almost 44% after speculation on the take-over of United Engineers by the Charon’s business empire.

NOBLE GROUP: worth ten cents?

Yesterday, Noble Group stock went 7.9% south to close the trading session at $1.11. The reason for this southward move? A report by Iceberg Research which touched on Noble’s accounting treatment of its associates in relations to financial impairments and its profits. I think I have worded the above nicely for the actual words used were harsh. According to the same financial article I have read, Iceberg Research has put a price target of 10 cents on Noble’s shares.

GLOBAL YELLOW PAGE STOCK: how I think it can become a multi-bagger stock?

Following my detailed analysis on Global Yellow Page stock (you can read the post here), I read the latest financial results announced by the company yesterday.

Global Yellow Pages Limited reported a net profit of S$3.1 million for the nine months period ended 31 December 2014, compared to a net profit of S$5.2 million for the corresponding period last year, this is 39.4% lower. I think this results is something not cheered by its investors, especially so when this reduced profits arose due to a lower revenue recorded for the aforementioned period (S$21.1 million, a 8.8% decrease compared to the corresponding period last year) coupled with a higher expense of $21.4 million (3.9% higher than the corresponding period last year).

Valentine Day effect on Singapore stocks?

Today is Valentine Day, I wish all couples a Happy Valentine Day. Being an investment blogger and investor myself, I could not help but to think of the Singapore stocks which would be beneficiaries of Valentine Day, though definitely, there should be no “Valentine Day” effect on Singapore stocks in my humble opinion. So, readers, read what I am going to share with you on a light-hearted approach.

Can this penny stock become a multi-bagger stock?

When it comes to penny stocks, retail investors have to be advised that such stocks could be subject to speculation rather than becoming stocks which are appreciated for long-term investments. This is because most penny stocks are stocks without solid fundamentals and the penny stock saga of Blumont, Asiason Capital and LionGold, to a certain extent might have eroded investors’ interest in penny stocks.

Singapore Stocks Markets: a boring profit strategy

I read of another letter in the Straits Times which shares the writer’s views of the Singapore Stocks Markets that echoed those expressed by a petition signed by a number of remisiers and retail investors (you can read more about the article here ) My very personal thoughts are that the Singapore Stocks Markets are not easy to trade by retail investors who do not have a good investing plan. Hence while the lot size in the Singapore Stocks Market is reduced to make it easier for retail investors to invest in higher-priced stocks, I really think that for most retail investors, to earn good monies from the Singapore, they adopt a “Buy and Hold” strategy.

I would think a “Buy and Hold” strategy works better when the US still pegged the Dollar to the Gold benchmark. With so much monies printed from the Quantitative Easing of different countries, they are going to shape global economies which shape global stock markets. Singapore is a price taker and its stock markets are pretty much shaped by the US stocks markets and the larger stocks markets. Hence it is not easy to trade and nor is it easy to “Buy and Hold” for profits these days for retail investors who often have just few thousands to spend on per investments. I really think the more profitable and consistent traders are those with deep pockets and who could earn few thousands dollars, even when contra with just a few percentages north in the stock prices of the stocks they buy.

18 Singapore stocks I may Buy

When it comes to investing, I think the most important thing is to choose a right stock. By a right stock, I mean a stock with good fundamentals. When an investor has chosen a stock which does not have good business fundamentals, no matter how much he tries to buy to dollar cost average or trade, he will most likely find that it is not easy to gain profits from these stocks.

The second most important thing is to know when to buy. Stock markets will at times give us attractive opportunities to buy when these good fundamentals stock are sometimes given a “discount” by investors.

Tom K of Singapore Stocks Investing reveals

I have been described as ambitious as some of my colleagues. I have been also described as money-oriented and from the fact that I also blog about investments and monies, some people also think that I am quite focused on wealth. Well, all this is not 100% true as what is more important to me than wealth is health and family.

How should Singapore investors invest now?

Singapore stocks headed 0.39% today (9 Feb 2015). I have already told readers that the current STI is at 3,418 on the back of low oil prices, low crude oil prices, an expected interest rate hike from the US, Quantitative Easing from China, Japan and Europe and on the back of the Greece vs European Union talks. Amidst such a backdrop, the STI to me seems high. I think investors should only be interested in STI if the blue-chip Singapore stocks show a uniform good performance but clearly the performance in Singapore blue-chip stocks are quite mixed.

How to invest now: learn from the experts

In this post, we are going to learn from the experts on how to position one’s investments for year 2015. Positioning one’s investment is not simply about market entry, it is about long-term planning. Assuming if you have $10,000 to invest, it is not wise to just invest this in one go. The best is to spread out one’s investments to capture different market opportunities that the stock markets will present, and have, like what some have, a “cut-loss” risk, so as to limit one’s stocks non-profits.

Remisiers’ letters to DPM Tharman: my Singapore stocks thought and strategies

I have read the reported summary of the letter written by a group of remisiers and investors to DPM and Finance Minister Tharman about their thoughts on the Singapore Stocks Markets. The main take-aways of the letter, from my interpretation of the letter are that firstly the Singapore Stocks Markets are not really attractive to the retail investors which resulted in not much of trading participation from retail investors as the remisiers might have expected and that some of the remisiers may not be earning as much as before.

Will this stock continue to head north?

In my post yesterday, I have shared with readers how the resistance of $1.08 to $1.10 are the resistances for Noble and if Noble is to advance beyond this resistance convincingly, it will be a great move north. Today (6 Feb 2015), Noble Group finally broke out from this resistance with a large stock-candlestick and with a good volume to close the trading session today at $1.155 with a good 6.5% move north. At this current price, Noble Group stock is overbought.

Why I am not putting my monies into the Singapore stocks markets?

In my post yesterday, I commented that the resistance of Noble Group at $1.10 looks strong and there is another resistance for this stock at $1.08. Today, Noble Group stock headed 1.4% south to close at $1.085. I think investors have to look out for this $1.08 point as it could be the resistance or the support.

Stocks which are heading up

The rally in the oil prices sent some oil-related stocks higher today (4 Feb 2015) as their stock prices went above the low price levels caused by low oil prices. Keppel corp was one of the star oil-related stocks today as its stock price headed up 1 % to close at $8.94. To me, I believe there should be more room for Keppel Corp stock to move higher as it gapped up beyond the resistance of $8.85. However, there may be some profit-selling as the stock is now in the overbought region in terms of RSI.

Will this stock continue to become a multi-bagger stock?

Singapore Edevelopment has announced that it would not be proceeding with the non-binding MOU for Cloudtel, one of the twin engines for IT development that the company has identified, the other being the Hotapp product. According to the report that I have read, this would allow Singapore Edevelopment to focus on Hotapp. Singapore Edevelopment was formerly called CCM Holdings with business in property development in countires lie Singapore and the US. The company has since taken a new portfolio in IT development when Mr Chan Heng Fai became the CEO of Singapore Edevelopment. According to Singapore Edevelopment website, Mr Chan is determined that he will make Singapore proud of Singapore Edevelopment. For more of Singapore Edvelopment, you can refer to my previous posts under the thread of this company.

Should you buy this stock now?: Yongnam stock

Yongnam stock has been trading at one of its lowest stock prices. Today, Yongnam stock closed unchanged at $0.179. Yongnam’s stock price pattern has been mostly in a series of dojis and I believe the stock markets will soon decide whether to send Yongnam stock price higher or lower. In February 2014, Yongnam price was at around $0.23 and hence today’s closing price of Yongnam means an over 20% discount of the above price. Yongnam is an investment holding company, offering engineering and construction services primarily in Singapore, rest of Asia, and the Middle East. According to the SGX website, the consensus target price for Yongnam is $0.213 which translates into approximate an 19% upside.

Review of my Investment Strategies for January 2015

Dear readers, how is your investing journey for year 2015? I am not sure how many of you have invested or trade in stocks for January 2015. For myself, as I have shared with you readers, I have developed a trading mindset to maximize profits rather than buying and holding on stocks on the back of the general economic outlook. This trading mindset necessitates some trading formula which I have personally developed from reading many good books. I have focused pretty much on the Eurozone Quantitative Easing, the Greek’s election of an anti-austerity government and hence I have decided to hold off buying stocks for January 2015. I always believe it is always not too late to invest or trade as there are always opportunities for investors simply because of the continuous interplay of human emotions as well as herd mentality.
