MASTERING FUNDAMENTALS AND TECHNICALS, ONE STOCK AT A TIME

In my previous post, I have shared with readers about how Moya Asia stock is now turning south and might test the $0.098 support next (you can read my post here). The downtrend for Moya Asia stock commenced after its acquisition of another company and I have said that I viewed the acquisition non-positively since the acquired target has net book liability. Moya Asia stock went south 7.3% lower yesterday to $0.102. Compare this closing price to the high of $0.131 before its trading halt and announcement of its acquisition, that is a southing of 22%! The current technical charts of Moya Asia stock is not strong and I think the next support of Moya Asia if the price continues to head south is $0.098.

JAPFA STOCK: RALLY TO CONTINUE?

Japfa stock
In my blog post of 14 Jun 2017, I shared with readers that I like the technical setup of Japfa stock. You can read the post here .Yesterday, Japfa rallied by an impressive 7.7% to close the trading session at $0.63. Japfa’s stock price broke past the 50DMA. If the rally is sustained, I think Japfa will need to break past the current 100DMA at $0.75 before finding support at the current resistance level set at $0.80. RSI is above 70% which is overbought for Japfa, so I believe there might be some profits-taking.

MOYA ASIA STOCK & YOMA STOCK

Moya Asia, Yoma stock
In my post of 15 Jun 2017 (you can read the post here), I said that if Moya Asia stock continues its decline below its previous support of $0.115, then a possible downtrend might be in, On 16 Jun 2017, Moya Asia stock closed a further 4.3% south at $0.112, well below the previous support of $0.115. Moya Asia’s 5DMA which is dipping south has started to meet the 20DMA and if the bearish trend is to continue, we will see Moya Asia stock next test the $0.098 support once again. I have disposed of my stake in Moya Asia stock as prior to the acquisition of a net deficit book value company, I like the fundamentals but post-acquisition, I am not sure how this acquired company will be a drag in fundamentals to Moya Asia stock.

On SGX: MORE COULD BE DONE

SGX, Singapore stocks
Dear readers, these days, we have been seeing a number of new stocks making their IPO debuts on the Singapore Stocks Exchange one after another. We had Sanli, followed by World Class Global and followed by HRnetGroup. This is only healthy for Singapore stocks markets as it means more choices for retail investors. But amidst all this listing, we seem to have not managed to attract the bigger IPOs on our shores.

ON PM LEE HSIEN LOONG, LEE HSIEN YANG and LEE WEI LING SAGA

This week is indeed not an ordinary week for Singapore as the Lee family saga made its way into both local and international headlines. I followed the news and am continuing to follow the news but prefer not to make any comments on this matter, as I would like to hear both sides of the story which is still developing for objectivity. I know that in this efficient country of ours, there is absolutely no doubt that this matter will be finally resolved objectively, unambiguously and there will be clear answers to Singaporeans about all this saga at a later time.

SUPER-RALLY STOCK: AN UPDATE

Moya Asia stock
Dear readers, this is an update about Moya Holdings Asia stock. As shared with readers, Moya Holdings Asia has been a star of a stock, rallying as a two-bagger from Apr 2017 to 7 June 2017 where it closed at $0.131 before the shares halted trading. During trading halt, Moya Holdings Asia announced the acquisition of a company called Acuatio with operations in Indonesia that is in the business of “is in the business of developing and operating water treatment facilities and associated distribution pipelines for the distribution of clean water.”

When Moya Holdings Asia resumed trading on 12 Jun 2017, its share price headed south by 5.3% followed by a small increment of 0.8% on 13 Jun 2017 and yesterday (14 Jun 2017), Moya Holdings Asia closed 3.2% down at $0.121. This means a “southing” of around 8% of share price since trading resumed.

SHOULD YOU AVOID THESE FOURTEEN STOCKS NOW?

Singapore stocks
Dear readers, there are some stocks on the SGX which are trading at 52-week highs. Of course, owing to the hundreds of stocks on the SGX, it is too exhaustive to list down all Singapore stocks trading at 52-weeks high. Instead, I filter down to stocks with a decent market size, i.e. with a $500 million market cap each that is trading at 52-week highs; there are fourteen such stocks:

HRNETGROUP, WORLD CLASS GLOBAL: A SHARING

HRnetGroup, World Class Global
Dear readers, have you subscribed to HRNETGROUP and WORLD CLASS GLOBAL IPO? Congratulations to you if you have subscribed and if you will get the IPO shares. For myself, I did not subscribe to both IPOs though I had done so for Sanli IPO. Why is that so? Well, it all has to do with fundamentals.

IS THIS STOCK POISED FOR A SUPER RALLY NEXT?

Japfa stock
Ever since breaking its support of $0.80, JAPFA stock has since reached a 52-weeks low of $0.525. Therafter, Japfa stock since to form a base of $0.54 and on 9 Jun 2017 and 12 Jun 2017, Japfa stock price has headed north successively, accompanied by large volume. Looking at the technical charts, I like how the moving-averages (5DMA,10DMA and 20DMA) have converged on the upside and seem ready to test the 50DMA. Japfa stock closed at $0.59 on 13 Jun 2017.

ARE THESE THE BEST SIX SINGAPORE STOCKS NOW?

Singapore stocks
Dear readers, everyday, we see a number of Singapore stocks making the most active stocks, % gainers and % losers on the SGX. Some stocks are familiar names while others do not. Some stocks may prove tempting to some especially when these stocks keep appearing on the top volume stocks and are top % gainers some more. While on the technical side of investing, it might not be easy since we have different communities there like “scalpers”, “short-sellers”, “big brothers”, “trading experts”, there is one fact and this fact is important and non-disputable. Companies with solid fundamentals will normally withstand the test of time and it is a matter of time before their stock prices reflect the strong fundamentals of the companies.

WILL YOU BUY THESE FOUR STOCKS TRADING AT 52-WEEKS LOW?

Golden Energy, NSL, Raffles Medical Group, Yeo Hiap Seng
There are currently four stocks, of market capitalization of at least $500 million each which are trading at a maximum of 5% from their 52-week stock prices low. While low prices alone do not mean that it is cheap to buy stocks as the stocks themselves might not be fundamentally sound despite having a decent market cap of $500 million each, the debt-to-equity ratio of each of these four companies is also quite decent at less than 5% each. So what are these four stocks? Lets find out below now.

BUYING INTO THIS MEGA-TREND

China Aviation Oil
Dear readers, to be frank, investing is never easy. Of all the many investors out there, there is only a fraction of consistent and profitable investors. STI & STI STOCKS: AN IMPORTANT ANALYSIS

STI stocks
Dear readers, STI closed at 3,254.19 on 9 Jun 2017, up by 0.53%. If you are to ask me how the Singapore stocks are performing, I can only say that looking at the STI performance, the local stocks markets seem still strong. The immediate resistance to STI is around 3,270.

The STI is but a benchmark of the top 30 Singapore stocks by market capitalization. Looking at the STI constituent stocks yields an interesting insight, there are a couple of overbought STI constituent stocks (seven in total to be exact). They are:

THREE GOOD STOCKS FOR INVESTORS

China Jinjiang stock, Moya stock, Sanli stock
In a report released yesterday (9 Jun 2017), Hong Kong-based CLSA likes Singapore-listed China Jinjiang environment stock as it believes the company, a wastewater treatment operator can increase its treatment capacity rapidly from now to over 2020 by over 70% of its capacity to remain one of the top players in China. China JinJiang stock went north by 1.149% to close at $0.88 on 9 Jun 2017. China JinJiang stock is currently trading at 5.66% dividend yield at a Price-to-Book ratio of 1.147 and at a Price-to-Earnings ratio of 8.094. WILL THIS BILLION-CAP STI STOCK BE PRIVATISED?

SIA stock
Even as the stocks markets have already digested the fact that SIA incurred a surprising fourth-quarter net loss of S$138 million, its first in five years, SIA Chief said in a report dated 7 Jun 2017 that jobs at SIA are likely to be cut as part of the airline’s business review. When I heard this news, I was a bit surprised and also not surprised. Surprised in the sense that has SIA’s business gone so bad that the prospect of job cuts has to be factored in? Unsurprised as all along the airline business is really a very competitive one. Even investing legend Warren Buffet has his saying that he is not really into airline stocks. The fact being traditionally when the economy is good, cost of aviation oil is high and when the economy is not good, the demand for overseas travel and hence air flight demand is not strong too.

MOYA ASIA STOCK: JUST AS WHAT TOM K PREDICTED!

Moya Asia stock
Dear reader, today, Moya Asia stock called for a trading halt. Before it requested for a trading halt, Moya Asia stock traded at $0.131. Tom K (myself) has predicted all this right before today’s good action in Moya Asia stock materialized! This is the proof . From this 27 May 2017 post, I have said that if the resistance of $0.115 is overcome, then Moya Asia stock will reach as high as close to $0.13. And just before I concluded that post, I said the large cash that Moya Asia holds is sufficient for growth through acquisitions. If you translate the two key notes of this post to today’s action: trading halt and before that a stock price of $0.131, you would see that how accurate I have predicted. And I would go as far as say that the halt should be pending an announcement to an acquisition of another company (let us see whether I am accurate here).

WILL YOU INVEST IN THIS UNDERVALUED, HIGH DIVIDENDS, ZERO-DEBT STOCK NOW?

Parkson Retail Asia stockWhen I applied the stock screener on Singapore stocks, to screen for fundamental metrics which will be welcome by investors, I inputed in the following metrics:

a) dividend yields of more than 4%;

b) low or zero debt; and

c) Price-to-Book ratio of less than 0.5

This will allow me to screen for stocks where one could buy at a 50% discount to its book value (criterion c) while ensuring that the stock is financially viable (criterion b) and while holding, the investor will be ensured of a high dividends stream of more than 4%.

I was surprised that currently on the Singapore stocks markets, there is only ONE stock which fits all the criteria. This stock is none other than Parkson Retail Asia stock which has a Price-to-Book ratio of 0.498, 5% dividends yield and zero debt. Currently, Parkson Retail Asia stock trades at $0.1, some 43% lower than its 52-week high of $0.175. Technically, Parkson Retail Asia stock seemed to find a support at the $0.09 level and the stock price seems to be inching north slowly.

SANLI STOCK: AN IDEA FOR IMPROVED CHANCE OF BALLOTING SUCCESS

Sanli stock
Yesterday after work, I went to the ATM, not to withdraw monies but to update my bank book. I have applied for Sanli IPO shares and tomorrow will be the IPO debut day for Sanli stock and hence I updated my book in a bid to understand whether my application or ballot for Sanli IPO is successful. To my dismay, one of the new entries in my bank book showed the figure equivalent to the amount of Sanli shares which I have balloted for and hence I knew that I was not successful, yet again. I understand that how difficult it is to get a successful ballot for an IPO stock, though this probability is slightly better than my ballot experience for the coveted NDP tickets. To put as record: I have been balloting for NDP tickets since year 2000 but was not successful.

WILL THIS PENNY STOCK CONTINUE TO TREND HIGHER?

Moya Asia stock
Ever since Moya Asia stock touched an intra-day of $0.122 in the previous few sessions, the stock has been making lows recently. On 5 Jun 2016, the stock retreated to its support of $0.115, a price level which I have shared with readers before. But this low price was not long, yesterday (6 Jun 2016), Moya Asia stock rallied up from an intra-day low of $0.113 to close at $0.125, a price rally of 8.7%! With $0.125 level reached, could we say that the resistance of $0.122 for Moya Asia stock or more correctly Moya Holdings Asia has finally been crossed? And if so, will it means more upside for Moya Holdings Asia?

STI STOCKS: OVERSOLD, OVERBOUGHT

STI stocks
It has been some time since we last visit the constituent stocks of STI. Let us see which of the STI stocks are oversold and overbought as of 6 Jun 2017.

OVERSOLD STI STOCKS: SPH, SIA, Wilmar

My comments on the above Oversold STI stock is that for SPH, the decline in its share is likely to be in line with the lacklustre overall stocks markets sentiment. The factor of a new CEO in Mr Ng Yat Chung should have already been factored in by investors in the trading of SPH stock in the few days after the announcement of the new CEO. SIA’s stock performance is probably due to the effects of a recent lacklustre financial result while for Wilmar, some substantial shareholders recently disposed of some shares.

Substantial shareholders BUYING this BILLION-CAP STOCK

YangZiJiang stockYesterday (5 Jun 2017), it was reported that BlackRock /The PNC Financial Services Group has purchased 11.4 million of YangZiJiang Shipbuilding deemed shares on 1 Jun 2017 (The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. has over 20% ownership of BlackRock). YangZiJiang Shipbuilding stock closed 0.8% higher at $1.275 yesterday with its technical charts looking still bullish. The stock is just a few cents away from its 52-weeks high of $1.305 and since Oct 2016, YangZiJiang has rallied by almost 80% from the then-price of $0.72.

WILL THIS BE THE NEXT PRIVATISATION TARGET?

Wheelock Properties stock
WHEELOCK PROPERTIES stock has been singled out as a prime privatization candidate by Phillip Securities in its research report dated 2nd Jun 2017. The report might have triggered the 4.6% increase in the stock price of Wheelock Properties on the same day of the release of the report, accompanied by strong volume. Phillip Securities has a trading buy target on Wheelock Properties at $2.28 which means a further upside of 25% from the current stock price of $1.82.

THREE UNDERVALUED BILLION-CAP SINGAPORE STOCKS TRADING AT 52-WEEK LOWS

There are currently three undervalued billion-cap Singapore stocks which are trading at 52-week lows according to the result of my stocks screening exercise.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SINGAPORE STOCKS?

Singapore stocks
Singapore stocks benchmark index STI closed at 3,240 on 2 Jun 2017, extending the nice rally all the way since the second half of year 2016 where the STI index then was 2,860. Surprising, at that point (Dec 2016), Donald Trump was elected the US President and just as everyone was worrying about what Trump would bring to the global stocks markets, we had local and regional stocks markets rallying to new highs as like what we have seen for the local bourse.

IMPROVED RESULTS+CEO’s BUYING=MULTI-BAGGER NEXT?

Accrelist stock As shared in my previous post with readers (you can read the post here) , CEO of Accreslist, Mr Terence Tea Yeok Kian had been purchasing shares off the market on a regular basis from January 2017 to April 2017. I have shared my thinking with you readers that a CEO’s purchase of his or her own stocks could only spell bullishness for the company and the stock.

Second Chance Properties stock closed flat at $0.255 for both 1 Jun 2017 and 2 Jun 2017.

SINGTEL STOCK: WILL YOU BUY IT NOW?

Singtel stockSingtel stock recently went to a low of around $3.70 in May 2017 ever since the support of $3.88 was broken. It seemed that Singtel stock managed to find support at $3.70 level as its stock price inched slowly up to close at $3.81 today. As an added boost of confidence, Singtel CEO, Ms Chua Sock Koong bought 355,740 Singtel shares on 1 June 2017.

WILL THIS PENNY STOCK RALLY NEXT?

QT Vascular stock
One penny stock which recently emerged as the most actively traded stock on SGX caught my attention: QT Vascular stock. On 31 May 2017, QT Vascular stock rallied up by a solid 12.1% to close at $0.037; this was right after QT Vascular ’s AGM and this prompted an enquiry by SGX.

SANLI IPO STOCK: SUBSCRIBED

SANLI STOCK
In an earlier post, I blogged about the current IPO stock SANLI (you can read the post here: ). I know that I will forfeit $2 if my subscription is not successful; but I just want to have a try at it.

SPH stock: worth a BUY NOW?

I shared in my blog post on 29 May 2017 how the doji of SPH stock price formed on the same day meant that investors were indecisive; probably weighing in the announcement of General Ng Yat Chung having been appointed the CEO of SPH. Yesterday, SPH stock continued to decline by a further 1.2%. I am really unsure how much of the southing of SPH’s stock price has to do with some investors making decision based on the appointment of the new CEO but I believe the announcement of who will be on helm will definitely be a factor for investors’ investing decision, not only for SPH but for all companies.

SANLI IPO: WILL YOU APPLY?

Sanli IPO
SANLI Environment has launched an IPO here in Singapore, seeking to raise $9.7 mullion in net proceeds. SANLI has applied for the listing on the Catalist board of SGX. 52 million new SANLI shares will be offered at $0.225 per share, this consist of 49.5 million placement shares and a public tranche of 2.5 million shares.

HRnetGROUP IPO

HRnetGROUP IPO
HRnetGroup, Singapore’s largest recruitment firm, is the latest IPO for retail investors here. Each share would be priced between eighty and ninety cents per share with 6 million shares available for retail investors and 84 million shares for placement shares. With this ratio, I believe it might be too competitive for retail investors here to get a share if they ballot.

MOYA ASIA: HEADING SOUTH?

Moya Asia stock
Ever since Moya Asia reached an intra-day high of $0.124, the stock has languished. First, a reversal doji formed yesterday 29 May 2017 as the stock price retreated to $0.118, also the intra-low stock price for yesterday. Today, there was further sell-down of Moya Asia stock as the stock went south by almost 6% to reach an intra-day low of $0.111 before going up to close the trading day at $0.114. If you could recall my previous post on Moya Asia stock, I said the previous resistance was $0.115 which has now turned support. Today’s Moya Asia stock’s breaking through the support of $0.115 means that if this support could not be held, then we could see Moya Asia stock reach the next support at $0.107/$0.108.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF SERRANO

Serrano stock
There is one stock which puzzled me, its name is called Serrano (not Serangoon). On 23 May 2017, this stock rallied by 210% to close at $0.031 from its previous closing price of $0.01. The unusual stock movement caused SGX to enquire Serrano and Serrano called for a trading halt. Serrano’s response to SGX’s enquiries was that it was unaware of any reason which could have caused the large price north of its stock. Since then, Serrano stock has been trading in the high twenty cents to over mid thirty five cents range.

SPH STOCK: WELCOME THE GENERAL!

SPH stock was on the radar of many investors today as it is the first day since SPH announced that it has appointed General Ng Yat Chung as its incoming CEO to take over the current CEO, Mr Alan Chan. General Ng needs no introduction. General Ng or more accurately LG(NS) Ng is the current CEO of NOL and he has overseen the privatization of NOL. Before he was CEO of NOL, General Ng, who was awarded the SAF Overseas Scholarship, was Singapore’s Chief of Army before assuming the post of Chief of Defence. After General Ng’s tenure in the Army, General Ng was appointed as the Senior Managing Director in Temasek Holdings before taking the helm of NOL, a very high-profile position, if we consider that former Prime Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong was a former managing Director of whose achievement who led NOL to turn its first profit by the mid-1970s according to the NOL website.

RISE OF THE GIG ECONOMY

I watched a very interesting episode of Money Week (in mandarin) about the rise of the gig economy whereby individuals could earn an income or some pocket monies at a flexible timetable arrangement through the use of apps like Uber. Basically, all the individual needs to do is to enrol or subscribe to the apps of services he or she could provide. After that when there are work or job opportunities on these apps and at a time slot available to the individual, the individual would just take up the job and go for it; and get paid after the assignment.

A Fresh New Japanese Food Dining Concept

For far too long, we have been having the same Japanese food dining concept in Singapore, in the format of Japanese restaurants like Ajisen Ramen from Japan Food Holdings or RamenPlay under the BreadTalk Group. Hence it is especially interesting to learn of a fresh new Japanese food dining concept in Singapore, which integrates shopping, retail dining, marketing (going to the wet market) and learning (of the source of the seafood in the large Japanese crabs and fresh seafood) all into one and at a popular and convenient location. Some of you readers might know that I am talking about: Emporium Shokuhin at Marina Square.

CAN THIS STOCK CONTINUE TO RALLY?

Moya Asia stockMoya Asia or more correctly called Moya Holdings Asia has been a star performer on the SGX, rising by more than 300% since Q3 of year 2016. The rapid rise of share price of Moya Asia in the previous week is evident as the stock also made it to the top volume Singapore stocks. I have been sharing lots about this stock of my conviction in this stock before its rally and I continue to believe in the good fundamentals of this stock.
