SEMBCORP MARINE STOCK: STRATEGIC REVIEW OUT AND PRIVATISATION SOON?

Sembcorp Marine, Sembcorp IndustriesDear readers, today’s key highlight for Singapore stocks markets has to be inevitably the rally in Sembcorp Marine stock. Sembcorp Marine stock rose by some 9.4% to reach a high of $2.09.So what could have caused the rally? A search on the internet has some guessing that it could be possible privatization or some big deals the Sembcorp Industries has snapped. There are some guesses on the recent rally in oil prices.

If you have been reading my blog, you would guess what camp would Tom K be in. Tom K is a believer of the privatization of Sembcorp Marine stock as you would have seen me writing really very frequently on this topic last year (example this post here ) . In fact, as soon as Sembcorp Industries announced it was embarking on the Strategic Review of the Group last year, I have reckoned till now that an outcome from this Review would be the privatization of Sembcorp Marine stock. And for this year, the most recent post on this belief in the privatization of Sembcorp Marine stock is here.

I think what is next will be the release of the Strategic Review of Sembcorp Industries pretty soon. And if Sembcorp Marine stock is indeed to be taken private, Tom K expects the stock to be halted soon in parallel with the release of the Strategic Review. If Sembcorp Marine stock is to be privatized, Tom K expects an exit offer of $2.50 to $3 per share. Anything more than $3 would be good.

A disclosure here: yes, I have been averaging Sembcorp Marine stock when it was trading at around $1.80 and below (can read this post here ) .
